How to Turn Off iMessage from Popping Up on iPad and Other Devices
Deactivate iMessage on iPad
This is one of the easiest ways to keep your personal iMessages from popping up on your shared iPad.
Step #1: Launch Settings on your iPad.
Step #2: Now tap on Messages.
Step #3: Next, simply toggle iMessage OFF.
Remove or Exclude Phone Number from iMessage
Excluding a phone number from iMessage on the shared iPad is another way to ensure that your personal messages do not appear in iPad.
Step #1: Tap on Settings in the shared iPad.
Step #2: Now tap on Messages.
Step #3: Next, you need to tap on Send & Receive.
Step #4: Then, you can tap on the phone number that you wish to remove to uncheck it under You Can Be Reached By iMessage At.
This action will also get the phone number under Start New Conversations From disappeared.
Step #5: Launch Settings on your iPhone that bears the number you wish to exclude.
Step #6: Tap on Messages.
Step #7: Tap on Send & Receive.
Step #8: Here, you need to tap on email addresses under You Can Be Reached By iMessage At to uncheck them.
This will have your phone send and receive iMessages using its phone number.
Step #9: You should ensure that the phone number is checked under Start New Conversations From.
Add Another Email Address to use with iMessage
If you don’t want to follow above solutions, simply add a new email address and make it active on your iPad only.
Step #1: Launch Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
Step #2: Now tap on Apple ID banner.
Step #3: Next, you need to tap on Name, Phone Numbers, Email.
Step #4: REACHABLE AT is a section seen under your Name; tap on Edit button which is next to REACHABLE AT.
Step #5: You need to tap on Add Email or Phone Number.
Step #6: Then tap on Add an Email Address.
Step #7: Type a new email address.
Step #8: Tap on Next.
Step #9: Enter verification code you receive on your email address.
If you only want messages sent to that address to go to your shared iPad, you have to disable the email address on your other devices.
Step #1: Launch Settings on other iOS device.
Step #2: Tap on Messages.
Step #3: Next, you need to tap on Send & Receive.
Step #4: Here, you need to tap on recently/newly added email address to uncheck and disable it for iMessage on that device.
Step #5: You can repeat above steps as many times as required on all of the devices but your shard iPad.
Create new Apple ID
This is the last method to keep messages limited to a single Apple device: create a new Apple ID. After creating a fresh Apple ID, share it with your contacts from whom you want to receive messages on that shared iPad.
