Raise to listen is an amazing feature packed in Messages app; but normally, it works when you send or receive an iMessage because you can send and receive audio messages only through iMessage. However, to turn on and turn off Raise to Listen, you need to go to the Messages app from the Settings of your iOS device. When you use raise to listen, you will be quickly able to listen and reply to incoming audio messages by raising your iOS device near to your ear. When you send or listen to an Audio message through iMessage it will be automatically disappeared and removed from your conversation history after 2 minutes.
With this feature, you essentially save your energy to tap on that play button to listen to Audio message you have received from your friends or family. It is a helpful little feature as you can send audio messages of birthday wishes or any such greetings.
