Step #1: Open Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone or Android phone.
Step #2: Now tap on ‘Me’ icon, that is your profile tab from the bottom right corner. In your Android phone, this icon is seen in the upper right corner.
Step #3: Next, tap on People tab.
Step #4: Toggle the Sync Contacts tab ON. In your Android phone, once you tap on ‘Sync contacts’ tab, a pop-up message will ask you to confirm your action. Once you tap ‘OK’ button, your contacts will be synced with Messenger app on Android smartphone.
That’s it! All your phone contacts will be synced automatically with the Facebook Messenger app.

How to Add Contacts in Facebook Messenger Using Phone Number (on iPhone)
Step #1: Open Messenger app on your iPhone.
Step #2: Tap on People tab from the bottom menu.
Step #3: Next, tap on the ‘+’ icon seen at the top right corner of your phone’s screen.
Step #4: A menu will swipe up from bottom with three options: Enter Phone Number, Pick from Your Contacts, and Scan Code.
You can choose whichever mode is suitable to you and the contact will be added in Facebook Messenger.
How to Add Contacts in Facebook Messenger Using Phone Number (on Android Phone)
Step #1: Launch Messenger app on your Android smartphone.
Step #2: From the top menu, tap on Hamburger button (three vertical lines).
Step #3: Next, tap on ‘Add Contacts’ option seen below ‘Message Requests’.
Step #4: Two options will swipe up from the bottom of your Android phone screen: ‘Add with phone number’ and ‘Scan Messenger Code’.
Here, select any one option and you can add contacts in your Messenger app using phone number.
Note that if you have downloaded Messenger app for the first time, you will be asked to sync contacts during the configuration process. If you skipped the step then, you can add or sync contacts now with the above mentioned methods on your iPhone and Android phone.
