Google Home is powered by Google Assistant; you have to wake up this assistant and send commands via this Google Assistant to get things done on Google Home. But before this, you need to set up Google Home on your Android and iOS phone. Once your Google Home is set up, you can follow below mentioned Google Assistant commands.
When you are all set to interact with Google Home, you can use phrases like ‘Ok Google’ or ‘Hey Google’, and Google Home will pay attention to you. (You can also change ok Google to Something else on Android)

Google Assistant Commands – for Controlling Google Home
On Google Home, say “Hey Google, increase volume”, “Hey Google, turn it up” or “Hey Google, increase volume to maximum.”
To turn down volume, say “Hey Google, decrease volume”, “Hey Google, turn it down” or “Hey Google, decrease volume to minimum.”
You can ask Google Home to pause, resume or stop: “Hey Google, pause”, “Hey Google, resume” or “Hey Google, stop.”
For more such examples, you can ask Google Home to help you: Say, “Hey Google, help”.

Turn on or off every smart device in a room: “Hey Google, turn on everything.”, “Hey Google, turn off everything.”
Google Assistant can make out “lights”, “switches” and “outlets” as different kinds of devices. For example, if you speak “Hey Google, turn on the lights,” it will switch on smart light bulbs but may not turn on smart switches that are connected with lamps or other lighting fixtures. If you want to control those switches, you need to add the word “light” to the name or nickname of the device.
