One of the best text messaging apps in the world WhatsApp has introduced three amazing features. Now, you can type and make particular words bold, italics and strikethrough in WhatsApp.
I don’t think that any other messaging app offers such features. Perhaps WhatsApp has got this inspiration from Microsoft Word, where users can easily set fonts as bold, italics and strikethrough. But wait, you can’t just edit words as you do in your word document.
You need to follow other commands, unlike Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I for making the selected words bold and italics in MS Word. Here, you are not allowed to select word in your WhatsApp. But you need to place a few characters before and after the words to change its appearance.
How to Type Bold, Italics, and Strikethrough Text in WhatsApp Chat
So you need to take care of three things to make your words bold, italics and strikethrough:
To make words bold:
Type in asterisks (*) before and after the particular words. For example: if you want to send “hi” in bold fonts, type in *hi* and send.
To make words italics:
Type in (_) before and after the words. For example: if you want to send “hi” in italics, type in _hi_ and send.
To make words strikethrough:
Type in (~) before and after particular words. For example: if you want to send “bye” in strikethrough, type in ~bye~ and send.
Please note that you can use these features in WhatsApp Web also. So go ahead and spice up your chat and surprise your friends and colleagues.
