Live Photos has graduated from Camera app to the more exciting FaceTime. With the release of macOS High Sierra, users can enjoy capturing Live Photos on Mac while they are engaged in video chatting with their friends using FaceTime. This tutorial is about how you can take Live Photos from FaceTime call in macOS High Sierra. (You can also caputre FaceTime Live Photos in iOS 11).
Before you take FaceTime Live Photos, note that you and your friends/contacts should be using macOS High Sierra on the Mac. If you are a secret admirer of your friends (of opposite gender, of course), you cannot take Live Photos without being notified to the person on other end. This means you cannot take live photo of the person secretly.
Once you take Live Photos during FaceTime call on mac in macOS High Sierra, they will be stored in Photos app.

How to Enable FaceTime Live Photos on Mac
Step #1: Launch FaceTime app on your Mac running High Sierra.
Step #2: Tap on FaceTime from the menu.
Step #3: Click on Preferences.
Step #4: Now, click to check the box next to Allow Live Photos to be captured during video calls. (By default it is turned ON).
How to Take Live Photos During FaceTime Call on Mac
Step #1: First of all you need to make a FaceTime video call from Mac.
Step #2: Now, click on shutter button located at the bottom left corner of the screen during the call.
That’s it! You have successfully taken live photo. You friend will be notified of the fact that you just took Live Photo of him or her.
How to Access Live Photos Captured During FaceTime Call on Mac
Step #1: Launch Photos app on your Mac.
Step #2: Click on Photos located under Library and Find the last photos you have taken.
How to Edit FaceTime Live Photos on Mac
Step #1: Start Photos app on your Mac.
Step #2: Choose the Live Photo you want to edit.
Step #3: Click on Edit button from the top right corner.
Step #4: Now, start editing your live photos.
Step #5: Once you are done with editing, click on Done to save changes.
How to Stop Anyone from Taking Live Photos in FaceTime on Mac
You can also disable this new feature, if you don’t want anyone to take your photos during FaceTime video calling chat.
Note that you can still take photos of his/her on the other side if this feature, which is enabled on his/her Mac.
Step #1: Open FaceTime App on your Mac.
Step #2: Next, Click on FaceTime from the menu.
Step #3: Now, Click on Preferences.
Step #4: Click to Untick the box next to Allow Live Photos to be captured during video calls.
