iPhone 8 and 8 Plus Features and Specifications
For the first time, Apple has introduced wireless charging technology in its smartphones. The two phones will support Qi wireless charging (Samsung has already achieved this feat).
Experts are very quick to criticize Apple’s snail pace to introduce new design to its flagship smartphones. The latest models still look like Apple’s first foray into long-sized smartphones, i.e. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
However, Apple believes in introducing subtle changes that can be viewed only by discerning consumers. And this time, the change comes in glass back. This change is introduced to enable inductive wireless charging.
Had it been aluminium shell of old models, wireless charging would still be a distant dream for Apple. The brand has continued its enmity with 3.5mm headphone jack (this bad feeling was developed at the time of iPhone 7).
In the absence of 3.5mm headphone jack, users would like to enjoy wireless charging as they can connect their wired headphones in the free lightning port. Wireless charging is not a miracle in Apple’s iPhone 8 and 8 Plus; simply put your phone on a charging pad, and it will charge.
The widely used Qi charging standard is employed by Apple, and it is good news for people who have already purchased wireless chargers.
True Tone technology is already used by Apple in its iPad Pro 10.5”. The major benefit of this technology is that it automatically adjusts the screen based on the surrounding light in your room to give more accurate colours.
Apple has done some hard work in its processor; in its iPhone 7, we have experienced A10 Fusion, and now you can use A11 Bionic, which is a six-cord chip with two performance cores. This technology gives you 25% faster performance than A10. Users will appreciate GPU designed by Apple; this will give 30% faster performance.
About the camera, Apple has installed 12MP sensor on its iPhone 8; this will provide larger, faster and optical image stabilization. In its iPhone 8 Plus, Apple has put new sensors and has f/1.8 and f/2.8 apertures.
Check the Portrait Lighting in the dual camera on iPhone 8 Plus; this feature adjusts the lighting for portrait shots. These improvements will be applicable to video also.
It is claimed by Phil Schiller that latest iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have the “highest quality video capture ever in a smartphone” with support for 4K/60fps video.
In capturing slow motion videos, you will be surprised by its 1080p resolution at 240fps (this is double of iPhone 7’s 120fps option).
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are proudly designed for augmented reality, it is claimed by Apple. The cameras are calibrated for AR along with a new gyroscope and accelerometer for better motion tracking.
